North Olympic Regional Veteran’s Housing Network (NORVHN)

North Olympic Regional Veteran’s Housing Network (NORVHN) is a 501©3 non-profit specifically serving the homeless Veterans of Clallam and Jefferson Counties.  Our grassroots non-profit first began in 2000, but was retrofitted to a Veteran only focus in 2011.

Our first project, Sarge’s Place, was opened that fall with money from First Federal Savings & Loan, the Ben Phillips Foundation and an appropriation from Senator Patty Murray.  These monies allowed us to purchase an existing 2-story apartment building in Forks, remodel and get into the business of helping homeless Veterans.

In 2014, NORVHN paired with the Peninsula Housing Authority and received a Department of Commerce Housing Trust Fund grant for $500k, allowing us to purchase an existing 4-plex apartment building in Port Angeles, which was then remodeled and repurposed for homeless Veterans and their families, called The Outpost.

Seeing a need for more land and the ability to have a garden, more housing and expansion… NORVHN then purchased the house and land across the street from Sarge’s Place in 2015 and named it Camp Sol Duc.  This property incorporated 1.3 acres, a 2500 sq ft house and massive double car garage.  During the years that we have owned this property, we have converted the house into two apartments, developed massive raised beds, put in a greenhouse, started a secondhand store “The Attic” and in 2018 opened a produce market, “Sarge’s Farmstand.”

Future projects include a two-story apartment building, metal working shop, wood working shop and outdoor welding area upon the land so that our Veterans can live, work, create and BREATHE upon this land.

We have invested nearly $300,000 into this property and have made an eyesore into a beautiful and vibrant location for our Veterans and community.
